We have good news. Companies are hearing that you want healthier foods with lower sodium, and they’re taking action! Here’s the latest success story.

AHA and Aramark are working together on menu commitments to:
- reduce calories, saturated fat and sodium levels by 20%, and
- increase consumption of fruits, vegetables and whole grains by 20%.
Now, that’s something we can be 100% happy about.
Because nearly 80% of the sodium we eat comes from packaged and restaurant foods, reducing sodium in those foods will be a big help.
AHA and Aramark’s Healthy for Life 20 by 20 initiative will impact 10 billion meals over five years. The initiative will look to replace less nutritious ingredients on the menu with flavorful alternatives like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Action from more companies and from government will help make sure all of us eat better and live healthier. Thank you for joining our movement to eat healthy and choose less salt. There are already 89,000 of you who have taken the pledge to break up with excess salt and start eating healthier. And, you’ve made a difference in your community, too!
- 36,000 of you signed a petition to lower the high salt levels in school meals.
- You generated over 1,000 thank you notes to Nestlé for reducing the sodium in some of their foods, without affecting the taste!
Keep up the great work. If you haven’t already, join our movement to eat healthy and choose less salt.
