NFL PLAY 60 Live Virtual Field Trip Will Get Kids Moving

Looking for ways to get your kids off the sidelines and into physical activity? Just in time for Super Bowl LIII, the American Heart Association, the National Football League and Discovery Education are teaming up to help educators across the country get their students’ blood pumping on January 30, 2019.

The NFL PLAY 60 Kids Day LIVE Virtual Field Trip will teach kids the science behind cardio and strength exercises that NFL players use to stay fit. The virtual event will offer Q&A, a physical activity session designed for a classroom setting and a behind the scenes look at the Atlanta Falcons practice facility.

The half-hour, live event will be streamed from Atlanta the week of Super Bowl LIII. It will show students how easy and fun it is to be active and heart-healthy.

The Association is proud to work with the NFL to encourage kids to be more active. Together, we’ve helped more than 5.5 million students through the NFL PLAY 60 Challenge and NFL PLAY 60 App.

Don’t let the fun stop when the clock runs out on the Kids Day LIVE Virtual Field Trip. The NFL PLAY 60 app lets kids select their favorite teams and  train alongside virtual players whenever they want. This year the app has new features like updated characters, gear and apparel, new mini games and a virtual coach!  Look for it in the app store. Available for Apple and Android.

The NFL PLAY 60 name reflects the science-based recommendation that kids get 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day. Research has shown that physical activity leads to increased academic performance, and that in-classroom physical activity breaks improve cognitive skills and classroom behavior. The Virtual Field Trip is an innovative strategy to introduce kids early to the value of physical activity and to build future generations of healthy adults!
